The article points out that more than 50 % of the taiga zone forests of the North-West have the excessive soil moistening. They are not very accessible to the thinning conducting and require immediate carrying out of the forest hydro-melioration works. It is offered to conduct the effective drainage of forest land bylaying the canals with the slope compaction. This method implementation is possible with the special technical means on the basis of the excavator which caterpillars are able to bend relatively to the longitudinal plane and to move on the canal slopes.
